ANCIENT OVEN OF SELLÌA
Among the stones of the ancient "Aru serruna" neighborhood, the soul and secrets of an entire community are preserved.
In the beating heart of Sellìa, in the ancient "Aru serruna" neighborhood, stands a place that guards the most intimate and authentic memory of the village: the nineteenth-century oven of the wealthy Corea family. Although today its hearth is unlit and the space is meant solely for visits, within these stone walls one can still feel the soul of what was once the true nerve center of the community. In times past, local women would gather here to knead tradition with age-old gestures, sharing stories and passing down centuries-old recipes such as the renowned fichi nfurnati, a delicacy made with the sweet figs with which Sellìa was extraordinarily rich. Today, crossing that threshold in silence means embarking on an evocative journey back in time, where the echo of the past, the memory of burning firewood aromas, and the human warmth of entire generations continue to live on within its stones.
