The MuSeBa
MuSeBa is a unique experiential museum in Calabria that guides children and families to discover agriculture and sustainability through play, nature, and rural heritage.
Children's Museum of Agriculture & Environment is an innovative educational and cultural project in Calabria, housed inside the historical Palazzo Lostumbo, which was born in the heart of a region rich in heritage to bring young people, families, and schools closer to the values of farming, sustainability, and environmental care. As a unique educational and experiential space, the museum turns complex concepts like organic farming and natural resource management into an engaging journey where play becomes the primary tool for learning. The exhibition focuses on exploring natural cycles and local rural traditions, with a special emphasis on olive oil production—a theme visually highlighted by an iconic design featuring a large olive tree that spans vertically through the building, exposing its roots in the basement and its canopy on the upper floor. Various themed areas guide young visitors through the discovery of biodiversity, ecosystems, locally sourced nutrition, and the importance of recycling, while the friendly mascot Oliver leads children through sensory paths, interactive games, and hands-on workshops where they can directly touch nature, practice sowing, or create mini-gardens and crafts from recycled materials. Beyond tailored educational programs for school groups of all ages, the museum serves as a living model of sustainability by implementing low-impact solutions, such as renewable energy and eco-friendly waste management, ultimately inspiring the next generation to become conscious and responsible global citizens.
